Gears of War Judgment loses 3 key developers

It's musical chairs in the games industry, with three big names leaving Gears of War: Judgment developer People Can Fly over the weekend. The game's Creative Lead Adrian Chmierlarz has departed for destinations unknown, taking lead artist Andrzej Poznanski and principal artist Michal Kosieradzki with him.

People Can Fly - creators of Bulletstorm and Painkiller - is an Epic Games subsidiary based in Poland.

Epic President Mike Capps released the following statement:

Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki have parted ways with People Can Fly and Epic Games in order to pursue other opportunities, which they will announce of their own accord. Over the past decade, they have been instrumental in building People Can Fly into the talented team that it is today. We wish them well in their future endeavors.

Chmierlarz, who founded the company in 2002, has reassured gamers via Twitter:

Gears fans, you're going to love Judgment. It's in great hands. And don't worry, you'll hear about my plans soon enough. :)

No replacement has yet been named for Chmierlarz or the two artists, but Capps confirms that development continues on Gears of War: Judgment at People Can Fly, despite the lineup changes.

The news comes just a few days after Epic's Director of Production (and former Gears of War Executive Producer) Rod Fergusson left the company to work on BioShock Infinite at Irrational Games.
