Do the milkshake the milkshake do the shake
One of the most interesting elements of the EA vs Zynga court case that is going on at the moment is the fact that former EA COO John Schappert had taken on the equivalent role at Zynga, at around the same time as The Sims Social was in development.
Schappert is mentioned several times by name in the court documents, with EA suggesting that he "may" have something to do with Zynga's alleged copyright infringement case. (Schappert was one of a handful of key EA executives who joined Zynga's roster, who had "detailed, internal strategic plans and development information related to EA's effort to bring The Sims franchise to Facebook".)
CEO Mark Pincus states:
We can confirm that John Schappert has left Zynga and its Board of Directors effective immediately. John has made significant contributions to the games industry throughout his career and we appreciate all that he has done for Zynga. John leaves as a friend of the company and we wish him all the best.
Despite the "friend of the company" line, Schappert's role at Zynga had been substantially downsized in recent months, the company stripping him of his responsibilities directly overseeing game development back in August.
There are reportedly no plans to recruit a new COO at this time.
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
