Oh, Bethesda, you are such trickers. Just last week, you said that the Dawnguard DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim may not ever make it to PC. Fast-forward just a few days, and the new RPG content has not only been announced, it's actually available, right now!
The Vampire Lord Harkon has returned to power. Using the Elder Scrolls, he seeks to do the unthinkable - to end the sun itself. Will you join the ancient order of the Dawnguard and stop him, or will you yourself become a Vampire Lord? Featuring an all new faction questline, new locations, weapons, creatures and more; the ultimate choice will be yours.
...but wait, there's still one more platform where you can play Skyrim, but not as a vampire. Bethesda has announced that it is "not satisfied yet" with the way Dawnguard is performing on the PlayStation 3.
We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.
While console gamers are inevitably a little disappointed by the news, PC fans can rejoice. And if you haven't yet checked the game out, now's a pretty good time to dip your toes in the waters: Skyrim itself is on sale today on Steam, both by itself but also as part of a hefty QuakeCon bundle. PS3 fans, have you considered picking up a second copy? (It's very probably worth it...)
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
