Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
Despite what you may have heard, Infinity Blade II has not come to Android. The game is still happily iOS-exclusive, although it has been updated today with its most action-packed expansion to date: Skycages.
Getting the bad news out of the way first, a fake Android version of Infinity Blade II has popped up on the Google Play Store, claiming to be a free-to-play version of the super-popular game. With Infinity Blade II actually costing US$6.99 in the Apple App Store, you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd snagged a bargain, but - alas. Not to be.
To acquire the game, you must download a gigabyte of data, and are then told that you can unlock the game by earning 50 Tapjoy points. Unfortunately (but unsurprisingly) after hitting that threshhold, nothing happens. The other outcome is that the game doesn't even start, and you've just downloaded a gigabyte of rubbish.
The official statement from publisher ChAIR Entertainment:
It has come to our attention that a fake version of Infinity Blade II has been posted to Google Play. We have contacted Google to have this removed. For the latest information on all Infinity Blade products, including the current platforms supported by the games, gamers can always refer to the official site at: http://infinitybladegame.com.
The worst thing about all of this is that it is stealing a little of the glimmering spotlight on (the real) Infinity Blade II expansion, Skycages. The new content jumps right into the complex and detailed story of the Deathless, unlocking all new areas and uncovering relics from the past (there are more than 30 new items - including armour, magic rings, weapons, shields and helmets).
There's also a bunch of new Achievements, new gems, new treasure maps and some shiny new challenges for ClashMob.
Donald Mustard, creative director at ChAIR Entertainment explains:
Infinity Blade II remains one of the best performing games on the App Store and we’ve continued to explore new ways to expand the Infinity Blade universe with exciting new game play elements. In addition to providing more of the great content fans love, Skycages reveals new secrets and offers an epic conclusion to the latest chapter that fans won’t want to miss!
...of course, all this new cool stuff isn't just being added to make you look better: All-new enemies are also thrown into the mix, including the Headsman, Petrified Noc, Xyloto and Ryth.
The new expansion is available right now to anyone who owns Infinity Blade II, a universal app compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 3 (16GB+), iPod Touch 4, iPad, iPad 2, and the new iPad. If you don't have it yet, better be quick - the game's on sale in the Apple App Store for a ridiculous price of just US$2.99!
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
