Eagle-eyed gamers have spotted something rather unusual in the latest trailer for Need for Speed Most Wanted from Criterion. The video shows off the usual high-speed gameplay we've come to expect from the franchise, closing with an image of the three box copies - PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. And it's that last one that's causing a little bit of a fuss.
Most Xbox 360 games come in green cases. If you look closely, you'll notice that Need for Speed Most Wanted appears to be in a purple box, suggesting that the game may well have been designed specifically for Kinect support. The purple "Better with Kinect" logo is also clearly visible on the box art.
It's not that straightforward, however: Previously released box art for the game does not contain the "Better with Kinect" headline. Games which claim to be "Better with Kinect" don't come packaged in purple cases, which are primarily reserved for controller-free Kinect releases.
...but it could be true. And if it is, Need for Speed Most Wanted will be the first game in the franchise to ship with Kinect support, and that's a bit awesome.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
