Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
Drokk! says Tin Man Games. The Australian studio is putting the finishing touches on its latest adventure game / interactive book / RPG hybrid, starring you, as the one and only Judge Dredd. It is the 22nd century, and you are now the toughest judge to patrol Mega-City One.
In Judge Dredd: Countdown Sector 106, everything Dredd does is controlled by you, making decisions, choosing a path, and rolling the dice.
Sector 106 of Mega-City One is short of senior Street Judges and only the most experienced judges have been reassigned to fill this shortfall...foremost among them yourself, Dredd! What begins as a routine patrol arresting juves and skysurfers, turns into a race against time, as mysterious "Voices of Dredd" find their way into the hands of the local perps. Riding your Lawmaster bike and armed with your trusty Lawgiver, you must pit yourself against Sector 106's brutal criminal underworld. Quick Dredd! The countdown has begun...
The Countdown Sector 106 story has been written freshly for Tin Man Games by Nick Robinson, taking readers on an epic ride through Mega-City One. The universal app has been designed with an all-new custom built e-book interface, making the adventure "as easy as reading a book". You can even change the fonts, font sizes and other display bits and pieces, to make the game display just the way you like it.
And it's not just the aesthetics that have changed: There's a new battle system and set of gamebook rules, thanks to the revamped Gamebook Adventures Engine - and yes, the Judge's Handbook is included so you can access the rules at any time.
Dice have also been tweaked: You can now shake your iPhone (/iPad/iPod touch) like a dice shaker, making the 3D dice bounce around, using realistic physics as they bump into each other and objects within the game.
If you're not so much into the choice elements and just want to take Dredd through a quick adventure, click the game down into Novice mode - or if you'd like all the challenges, click up through Medium and Hardcore. (You'll have a varying number of bookmarks to use if you'd like to save your place.)
There's also an amazing soundtrack, killer sound effects, achievements to unlock, record sheets to collect, illustrations to find (by German Ponce and other Dredd artists). Did we mention Judge Dredd: Countdown Sector 106 has all been polished up to look amazing on retina displays and the new iPad screen resolution?
Keep an eye out - we're anticipating Judge Dredd: Countdown Sector 106 will hit the App Store early next week, so be prepared.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
