Steam Summer Sale set to super-size spending

As much as Valve doesn't like you keeping any amount of money in your wallet, it also doesn't seem to want you to get much sleep over the next week or so, either. The brand spankin' new Steam Summer Sale will run until July 22nd, with an impressive selection of deals which will change every eight hours.

Right now, we're looking at serious discounts on Portal 2, Modern Warfare 3 and Terraria, plus Saints Row the Third for not much and the obsecene SEGA Hit Collection, which bundles up 71 games for less than US$50.

You can also vote on which deal you'd like to see next (at the moment, the choices are 75% off of Magicka, Trine 2 or Limbo), plus a number of flash sales that are popping up and disappearing again in the blink of an eye.

There are a number of strategies when it comes to coping with Steam sales - the basic rule of thumb? Don't buy anything that's not discounted for the next week or so: You never know when it'll pop up as a Daily Deal!
