[E32012] Video Interview: DOOM 3 BFG Edition

E3 provided the perfect time for Bethesda and id Software to show off the shiny new BFG Edition of DOOM 3, which bundles up re-mastered versions of both DOOM 3 and the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack, plus seven new levels of content making up The Lost Mission.

The whole lot's been optimised in 3D, with new 5.1 surround sound, achievements, trophies, new rendering, shiny lighting and new check-point saves... but as we heard from Bethesda's David Clayman, it doesn't stop there - DOOM 3 now features the elusive armour-mounted flashlight, and you know what that means! Hands-free illumination!

You want icing on that cake? How about copies of the original DOOM and DOOM 2 thrown in for good measure! This makes DOOM 3 BFG Edition "the definitive collection of the genre-defining games," says id Software, meaning it's a handy little refresher course from the first-person shooter pioneers.

DOOM 3 BFG Edition for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 is headed to shelves around the world starting October 16th in North America, Australia and New Zealand on October 18th and Europe on October 19th.

    “BF collection of everything”.
Didn’t get it at first, then I remembered what BFG actually stood for!

I think we have a real Doom fan over there!

  2. Mythor says:

When I heard they were doing a Doom 3 re-release I could not have been any less enthused.

But hearing they’re giving us a bloody flashlight at last… No, I probably still won’t buy it. But it’s great they finally listened!

Fantatstic news , DOOM 3 was first game to get your hairs on back of neck going.
Glad they havent broken it to much.
I dont agree with them moving the flashlight as that was half the fun to me any ways.

oh and Mythor, you seem to hate the game and aint gonna buy it yet you obviously clicked on a link to get here and then you posted a negative comment, whats that all about ?

Glad they have made some new content to as i played the old stuff to death.
