Report: Guild Wars 2 out for Thanksgiving?

Where are you spending Thanksgiving? With family and friends in the real world? Allow me to offer you an alternative: In Tyria, surrounded by your virtual posse. It might be possible, if recently-unearthed data is to be believed: Guild Wars 2 is eyeing a release date in Q3/Q4 2012 - meaning that the game might just rival whatever other holiday plans you'd been making.

The news was discovered among financial reports from one of Korea's largest brokerage firms - KDB Daewoo Securities - which just happens to issue reports relating to ArenaNet and parent company NCSoft.

According to these reports (published by Gamebreaker.tv), the game's closed beta tests have been runaway-successful, leading experts to predict 3.12 million sales when it's released later this year.

Given that the company will need some preparation time (for marketing and cooperation with online and offline agencies) before the commercial launch in 3Q, we think that an announcement about Guild Wars 2's commercial launch is imminent.

These reports are technically only predictions, despite coming from people who are paid a lot of money to know about these things. ArenaNet has not publicly commented on the dates, release windows or other speculation, but has traditionally reminded gamers that nothing is official until the studio says it is.

Still, it might be worth preparing your excuses early: Which will you choose, awkward family gathering, or Guild Wars 2?
