Valve have been working hard at Dota 2, almost every week there has been a new update (for those in the beta) with changes to layout, UI, heroes and various other improvements. However in this weeks update they have added a store and announced that when the game is released it will be free to play using micro transactions to generate funds.

The key part about this information is they have stated it is not pay to win. The store items are just cosmetic options for your heroes. No new heroes will be withheld, no added abilities or items, everything you need to play will be there for you for free with the option of getting some cool costumes. They have also planned to connect the Steam Workshop so fans and players can create their own costumes to be voted on what might sell in the game.
You can check out the Dota 2 blog for the full details. As someone who loves this series and has dropped a lot of time into the Beta, I have already jumped in and checked out the changes. I can't wait to see what comes out of the community and what I can get my Axe to wear. No announcement has been made about when Dota 2 will be available for all to play.
