Activision Blizzard settles with Infinity Ward

While keeping almost every single detail under wraps, Activision Blizzard has today announced the settlement of the Infinity Ward litigation. An official statement from the publisher suggests that a payment was involved.

[Activision Blizzard] does not believe that the incremental one-time charges related to the settlement will result in a material impact on its GAAP or non-GAAP earnings per share outlook for the current quarter or the calendar year, due to stronger-than-expected operating performance in the current quarter.

The decision came after days of behind-closed-doors meetings, and means that no jury will have to hear the case, which was reported to have almost $1 billion at stake. Infinity Ward head honchos Jason West and Vince Zampella were suing the Call of Duty publisher over the pair's "wrongful termination", claiming they were sacked so Activision Blizzard could avoid paying significant chunks of cash in bonuses for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. the same time, Activision Blizzard countersued the pair, claiming the developers planned to steal Infinity Ward staffers and take them to rival publisher Electronic Arts.

EA and Activision Blizzard settled their side of the case out of court, earlier this month.
