Everybody knows: Minecraft is super-popular, and now Xbox knows what sort of numbers add up to super-popularity these days. Hint: There's a lot of zeroes involved.
The Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft launched last week, and we knew pretty soon that it was a winner. Now though, publisher Microsoft has given us some statistics to back it all up.
Firstly, in its first 24 hours of availablity, the game sold more than any other title in Xbox Live Arcade history over the same timeframe.
The attention didn't fade over the weekend, either, as gamers poured more than 5.2 million hours into the game. Specifically, more than 4 million multiplayer sessions add up to more than 2.4 million hours of playing with friends.
...and that, of course, is all quite easily possible because there are - officially - more than 1,000,000 copies of the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft on consoles around the world.
Sounds simple when you put it like that...
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
