Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
Just because you weren't able to make it to GDC earlier this year in San Francisco doesn't mean you have to miss out on all the amazing content, presentation and talks that were held at the event.
Today's example? The Art of Diablo III, presented by the game's art director, Christian Lichtner. The slides have previously been made available, and Lichtner has recorded a handful of video interviews about his work, but it's always great to see these things as they were properly intended. Thankfully, the folks at GDC have come to our rescue, including Lichtner's presentation in the GDC Vault, meaning anyone with an interest can check it out.
Lichtner looks at the process behind the Diablo III artistic direction, from simple sketches right through to the almost-finished product we've seen in the recent beta test. You'll get to see snippets of concept art, bits and pieces of character design, and even clips of all-but-finished gameplay. Well worth a look, if you're into any of that sort of thing.
If, perhaps, you're not such a fan of art, design and all those pretty colours, the GDC Vault has a free section featuring all sorts of awesome talks - including talks about classic games, monetisation, censorship, social media and even the philosophy behind popular releases. Did we mention - it's free!
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
