Diablo III beta servers to close, May 1st

Play as much of the Diablo III beta over the next two weeks as you can. Blizzard has confirmed that the beta servers will be shut down on May 1st, in preparation for the next step: Retail release!

The game hits virtual shelves on Tuesday May 15, (almost) all over the world, so Blizzard needs a little time to get everything ready for the mass return to Sanctuary.

We'd like to thank everyone who has participated in the Diablo III beta. You've done an admirable job of testing, and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback you provided during this critical phase of development.

It's important to note that when the servers are taken offline on May 1st, all beta accounts and character information will be reset, and no new ones created. That means, if you want to create comments or forum posts on the official Diablo III community site, you'll have to either have pre-purchased Diablo III, currently play World of Warcraft, or have a StarCraft II license attached to your Battle.net account.

With less than a month to go before the eagerly-anticipated sequel, maybe it's time to invest in a new mouse - and perhaps a new clickin' finger?
