Described as the hunted becoming the hunter, Crysis 3 puts gamers into the role of "Prophet", who has returned to NYC. However - the city has been encased in a Nanodome - the New York City Liberty Dome - created by the Cell Corporation (corrupt, of course!). The Dome has created a new, unique urban forest, complete with dense swamplands and raging rivers, as well as the looming, overgrown trees.
There are seven distinct environments inside the Liberty Dome - known as the Seven Wonders - and it's your task, as Prophet, to explore what else is out there, keeping in mind that to many denizens of the Dome, you're the enemy.
Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of developer Crytek explains:
Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love. Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.
The game itself is set in 2047, and Prophet is on a revenge mission, after figuring out just why Cell Corporation was building the giant, quarantined Nanodomes. Hint: What the citizens were told was a lie. The domes were not constructed to protect the population, or to cleanse the cities of Ceph forces.
Instead, the Domes are a covert attempt at a land and technology grab from Cell, and the Ceph are still lurking just around every corner.
So. Want in? Crytek thought you might, and the company's set up pre-order opportunities for Crysis 3 already. You can plonk your money down for a copy of the game's Hunter Edition right now, which will give you the tools you need to become an "ultimate hunter" in multiplayer. It'll snag you the signature bow plus attachments, as well as the Hunter Nanosuit module which adds extra power and functionality to your super-suit.
Plus, you'll get a bonus XP boost up to level 5 in online multiplayer, plus three exclusive dog tags. Check your local retailers for availability, or hop onto Origin.
As well as the Hunter Edition, various retailers around the place are offering select early multiplayer unlocks, specific to each store - ask around to make sure you get the one you want!
I like video games and music and cups of tea and noodles and beagles and colour-cycling LEDs.
