Real-world blocks: Minecraft Lego is happening

Late last year, we learned that Mojang had proposed an idea that made blocky fans the world over wet their pants in excitement: Official Minecraft LEGO.

LEGO Minecraft

An idea of how this might work

Now, you may need to get some clean trousers ready: The Minecraft project received (probably far more than) 10,000 supporters on fan site LEGO CUUSOO, and it has officially passed the LEGO Review (yes, that's a real thing).

This means that a LEGO Jury (yep, another real thing) has evaluated the feasibility of releasing a LEGO set based on indie smash Minecraft, and decided that yes, it's probably a worthwhile product.

Now, a team is working on a concept that "celebrates the best aspects of building with the LEGO system and in Minecraft."

...apparently it's already shaping up to be something pretty exciting, but it's not quite ready for public consumption. Have a little patience, let your imagination run wild, and we'll have some more details soon enough. In the meantime, rest assured that this is Really Happening, and that's awesome.
