This is what you're missing

If you've got a PS3, a PC or an Xbox without Gold membership, don't stress. You can stay reading this - your demo is arriving a little later, starting January 24th.

Right now though, Xbox Gold members can get right back into the action with Jackie Estacado, in the second instalment of the video games inspired by the supernatural horror comic series. This time around, it's been developed by Digital Extremes, so things are a little different - and not just the quad-wielding demon arms.

The demo version features the Brotherhood, ancient enemies of the Darkness, in a section lifted straight from the single-player campaign. It's perfect for giving you just a taste of what's in store in the full game - and not giving too much of the story away.

...and rightly so: In addition to the new combat mechanics, the story is the primary focus of the game - layer 'pon layer of darkness and light, "deep and twisted storytelling" and the traditional stylised violence that has been lifted straight from the pages of the comic books.

Happily, once the demo's whet your appetite, you won't have to wait long - The Darkness II is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on February 10th, 2012.
