The past month or so has been crammed with Top 10 lists and "Best of year" categories, but we're not out of the woods just yet. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has just announced the finalists for the 15th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards - and if Nathan Drake goes home empty-handed, something's gone wrong somewhere.
Drake - specifically, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception from Sony - is up for a whopping twelve awards, including Game of the Year.
Valve's action-puzzler Portal 2 has received 10 nominations, while L.A. Noire took home nine for Rockstar, and six nominations went to Battlefield 3, Batman: Arkham City and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Other noteworthy nominees: Australia's Halfbrick Studios for snagging not one, but two Casual Game of the Year noms, and Firemint for their Real Racing 2 HD Racing Game of the Year nomination. Congratulations, guys!

The awards themselves will be held in Las Vegas on February 9th, as part of the 2012 D.I.C.E. Summit (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain). Just like last year, it'll be hosted by the delightful Jay Mohr - but don't let that discourage you. It's one of the industry's best awards nights and traditionally has some pretty awesome speeches, to boot.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
