Valve updates logo, celebrates 35mil Steam users

It's a big day for Valve. Not only has the company just announced that there are more than 35 million active Steam users, but the classic "Open your mind" logo has received a bit of a makeover. Break out the champagne, folks!

Steam Logo

35,000,000

Last year, we saw Steam pass the 30 million user milestone, meaning that this additional five million gamers have all jumped on board in the past twelve months or so. Oddly enough, Team Fortress 2 went free-to-play in that period, but we're guessing that's just a coincidence, right?

The company itself has had to seriously upgrade its infrastructure, which sees more than 6 million unique gamers logging on per day, and is now hinting (as it has for a while) about an upgrade for the Source engine.

Meanwhile, Valve has been using the same "Open your mind" logo for a while now - that's the bald man with a red valve in the back of his head, by the way. Now, with the innovations being made in the development of Dota 2, we can confirm the logo has had a bit of a makeover as well.

You'll have to watch closely, it's pretty subtle.

...Valve Corporation, freaking gamers out since 1996.
