As if they didn't have enough already, another new Pokémon game is headed for the DS - but this one's a little bit different. Currently announced for a Japanese-only release, Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS is designed to teach users (mainly kids) to type quickly without having to hunt and peck while looking at the keyboard. Yep, it's a typing tutor.
But wait! The DS doesn't have a keyboard!
The clever sods developing this game have gotten a little bit tricky, embedding Bluetooth functionality into the game's cartridge, which means that it can communicate with the wireless Bluetooth keyboard that comes with Battle & Get!. Pretty nifty, huh?
Nintendo apparently don't make any claims on how good the included keyboard will be, but apparently it's good enough so that company president, Satoru Iwata, says he uses it with other Bluetooth devices, like an iPhone or Android phone.
First revealed at last year's Nintendo Conference 2010, this is just one of a handful of new Pokémon titles in the works, Pokémon Typing DS is currently slated for an April release in Japan, with no word on whether it will make it to the rest of the world.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
