Think E3 is easy?
Watch here on E3 week and see how much exercise I do.
American McGee is back. His Chinese-based gaming studio Spicy Pony have just released their second iPhone title, and trust me when I say a chunk of my recent days have disappeared into this Crooked House.
Based on one of the best loved nursery rhymes of all time, this is a nifty little puzzler featuring two alternate control modes and some pretty dark and devious graphics.
There was a crooked man,
He went a crooked mile,
He found a crooked sixpence beside a crooked stile;
He bought a crooked cat,
Which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together —
in a little crooked house.
It was the crooked mouse,
First lost his crooked smile,
Weary of the crooked nonsense beside the crooked stile;
He shred the crooked cat,
He fled the crooked man,
And he might live forever –
If you help him in his plan.
As the video illustrates, your task is to move blocks (books and such) to form a path for the crooked mouse to escape the crooked house. If you take too long, the crooked cat will catch him (nom nom nom), and it's not a good idea to slide blocks into him, either.
I don't know that I ended up "squeaking with fright", but I definitely had a few giggles as my poor, crooked mouse got a little bit squished.
American McGee's Crooked House is available now on the App Store for US$1.99.
I like video games, fishing, Depeche Mode, long walks on the beach, writing discussion papers and cups of tea. Not necessarily in that order.
