RIP Mark Beaumont, Capcom COO

We are saddened to report that Capcom's Chief Operating Officer for North America and Europe, Mark Beaumont, passed away this morning, February 23rd.

He was much more than just COO, officially holding the roles of executive vice president, officer and Head of North America, South America and Europe consumer software publishing, a position he'd held since 2008.

A well-known figure, Mark had dedicated more than 25 years to the industry, working at at Midway Games as executive vice president for publishing until his move to Capcom in 2005. This followed successful stints at Activision, Atari, Data East, Mindscape, Psygnosis and Warner Interactive.

Capcom have declined all comments, releasing this statement on their blog:

This morning we recieved word that our COO and dear friend, Mark Beaumont, passed away.

We're all still recovering here at Capcom, and his loss has left us with a deep sadness. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. We will remember him for his humor, passion and commitment to Capcom and our industry. He was a great leader and visionary and his spirit will carry on in everything that we do. Please join us in memory of Mark. Thank you for your attention and ongoing support of Capcom.
